'Lessons Learned In Past 12 Months' Series - Lesson #1

I have learned the most valuable lessons of my life in the past 12 months and as part of my own personal reflection, I thought I would share some of them with you here on 'The Societal Web' in the hope that perhaps they may also ring true for you or provide some form of assistance to you as we continue on life's journey.  So if you will permit me, here we go:

Note to myself: Short cuts

As part of my own developments and insights I will be blogging weekly my reflections on the past week. Please forgive me that sometimes a sentence is less acurate or that I need more words to describe the situation. I'm what they call a picture thinker, translate that picture into Dutch text and then to English, resulting into wobbly English-isses English but I will give it try, feel free to suggest improvements.

Stress Relief

#ChangeBySmallSteps

Fear is only powerful when you are trying to escape it.

Turn to fear, and say: Yes, come now, I am ready.

You will see how fearful fear is.

It is not to be found.

Vertaling:
Angst heeft alleen maar macht zolang je eraan probeert te ontsnappen.
Wend je tot de angst en zeg: Ja, kom maar, ik ben er klaar voor.
Je zult zien hoe angstig angst dan is. Het is niet te vinden.

Early conversation - Hearing and listening

Relationship building is the key to being a successful entrepreneur. Relationships are important in networking; In word of mouth; for referrals; and to help the value of the service or product gain traction. Relationships can be used to encourage people to try out something new, to learn about possible business opportunities, to find new talent, and to determine what potential clients and customers are looking for.

The cornerstone of beginning a successful business relationship is being willing to listen.

Is your website user friendly or even drunk friendly? You might have to get drunk to test it

It's the details that matter, especially when it comes to getting people to buy from you through your website. Take it seriously. Perhaps if you go and get drunk and you'll see what I mean!
